Te Rere o te Tūī – Flight of the Tūī

He *Manu taketake o Aotearoa – Tūī – command a dominant place in my psyche, life and leisure in both Aotea and Aotearoa.

My mark is an intuitive exploration of their drunken aeordynamics and unique sound, telling a story of stored memories, attachment and loss. Flying with dexterity and speed, the lines are a lingering resonance and soaring gesture, much like the freedom of the Tūī flight.

Starting intentionally and feeling its way, the ink leads me, gathering momentum through each developing turn abnd twist, guiding my hand.

Flight and song abstracted: a beginning, breathing, a becoming.
